چکیده
The submerged hydraulic jump is a sudden change from the supercritical to subcritical flow, specified by strong turbulence, air entrainment and energy loss. Despite recent studies, characteristics in smooth rough beds, mean velocity flow patterns cavity region of especially case triangular macroroughnesses, are not completely understood. objective this paper was numerically investigate via FLOW-3D model effects macroroughnesses on jump, including longitudinal profile streamlines, region, horizontal profiles, streamwise distribution, thickness inner layer, bed shear stress coefficient, Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE) loss, different macroroughness arrangements various inlet Froude numbers (1.7 < Fr1 9.3). To verify accuracy reliability present numerical simulations, literature experimental data were considered.

The flow field downstream of a hydraulic jump
A control-volume analysis of a hydraulic jump is used to obtain the mean vorticity downstream of the jump as a function of the Froude number. To do this it is necessary to include the conservation of angular momentum. The mean vorticity increases from zero as the cube of Froude number minus one, and, in dimensionless form, approaches a constant at large Froude number. Digital particle imaging v...

The thermo-hydraulic behavior of the air flow over a two dimensional ribbed channel wasnumerically investigated in various rib-width ratio configurations (B/H=0.5-1.75) atdifferent Reynolds numbers, ranging from 6000 to 18000. The capability of differentturbulence models, including standard k-ε, RNG k-ε, standard k-ω, and SST k-ω, inpredicting the heat transfer rate was compared with the experi...
متن کاملExperimental Study of the Effect of Gabion Structure on the Energy Dissipation of Submerged Hydraulic Jump Downstream of Ogee Spillway
In the last decade, the use of gabion structures in hydraulic engineering for stabilizing the structure due to its high density and weight has become widespread. Also, the material's roughness and porosity cause it to be used in energy dissipation and drainage projects. This study evaluates the relative energy dissipation of gabion structures downstream of the ogee spillway in the conditions of...
متن کاملNumerical Integration of Fluid Flow over Triangular Grids
Discrete approximations to hyperbolic partial differential equations governing frictionless two-dimensional fluid flow are developed in Cartesian geometry for use over arbitrary triangular grids. A class of schemes is developed that conserves mass, momentum, and total energy. The terms of the governing equations are also approximated individually and their truncation error is examined. For test...
